Erin's Gift Guide for Quality Sleep

Updated: Nov 6, 2023

Quality sleep is the gift that keeps on giving! So, I've put together a list of my best recommendations for helping to promote this quality sleep for your child. I'm not being paid to promote any of these items - these are my true thoughts and opinions.

Newborn Gifts

This machine can be controlled from an app on your phone, so if you need to turn up the volume to lull your little one into their next cycle in the middle of the night, you can do it without having to get out of your bed!

The noise options vary from calming white noise, waves, and rain, to more upbeat and stimulating bird chirping, nature sounds, and lullabies. You can use the nightlight on a dim mode for night time diaper changes and feedings, and switch it up to use as a toddler clock as your little one grows older. The different light colors can cue for when it is okay for your little one to get out of bed! For about $30 more, the Hatch Baby Rest + option includes a clock display, audio monitor, and is Alexa enabled.

Newborn babies especially love to feel like they are still being surrounded by their mommy (hello, 4th trimester?!) and that is what swaddles are designed to feel like! They provide a little extra comfort for your little one and can cue the body that sleep is coming.

3 - Bassinet

A newborn wake window doesn't last very long, and sometimes you just want to set the baby in a safe place while they sleep, but still in your view. A bassinet is the perfect option for a quick nap so mom can do something hands-free!

Baby Gifts

At around 8-12 weeks, and/or once your newborn starts to roll, you'll want to ditch the swaddle...so what do you do next? The Love to Dream Swaddle Up is a great option for this stage in your baby's development. You can use this as a swaddle to start, and then when baby is showing signs of rolling, unzip the arms so baby can go hands free!

2 - Any Baby Carrier or Wrap

These can be life savers, especially if you are a busy mama with other littles, or are just trying to get things done around the house. I used our wrap quite a bit when my little guy was refusing to lay down on his own, and I knew he needed to sleep. This is also a bit better of an option than holding them for a nap as they get older...plus it allows you to be hands free! There are so many options for carriers - structured, unstructured (wraps), and even ring slings. There's certainly something for everyone!

3 - The SlumberPod

This canopy fits over your child's play yard or mini-crib and provides compete darkness. It is the perfect gift for a family who travels, needs a portable room darkening system, or separation if room-sharing. The SlumberPod offers all of these things. There is a pocket for a fan as well as your baby monitor. We use this product quite often when we are up at the family cabin and have to share a room with our baby. Use the code lakecountrysleep$20 for $20 off your purchase!

Toddler and Preschooler Gifts

Yes, I know I already listed this one for newborns, but this little machine also can help toddlers with learning when it's time for bed and when it's okay to get out of bed in the morning. Again, this machine can be controlled from an app on your phone. The noise options vary from calming white noise, waves, and rain, to more upbeat and stimulating bird chirping, nature sounds, and lullabies. The different light colors can cue for when it is okay for your little one to get out of bed, preventing early mornings. For about $30 more, the Hatch Baby Rest + option includes a clock display, audio monitor, and is Alexa enabled.

This little gadget helps you know if and when your little one is out of bed so you can quickly respond to help them get back IN bed.

3 - Sleep Sacks

Okay, okay, this one you should be using once your little one is totally out of the swaddle and any transition products. Sleep sacks are wearable blankets (so you don't need anything "extra" in the crib) and can help keep your little one from climbing out of the crib. Ideally, we want our toddlers to stay in the crib for as long as possible!

HOWEVER, in my humble opinion, the best gift you can give your child are the skills to become an independent sleeper, and that is where my services come in handy. A sleep package, tailored just for your child and family's needs, and my support and expertise all at the tip of your fingers while we work together to teach your little one to sleep like a champ! This truly is the gift that will benefit your whole family.
